| I started drawing when I was fourteen, however it was mostly anime and at the time I didn’t know about portraiture. When I turned fifteen I became obsessed with the how to draw Real (people, hands, and models) books that are still very popular today. I was so determined to draw like the author of the books (Lee Hammond) I found her email and we became pen pals. I eventually met her in person and attended one of her workshops where she taught me how to draw portraits. After her workshop I drew many portraits in high school which eventually found their way into art competitions. I won about five awards in my last two high school years, and one of my works was sent to hang in a congressman’s office for a year. I haven’t had much time to draw portraits since I started college, however in the little amount of time I do have for art I draw anime. |
